My Final Prediction in April 2012
Today, I predict that clear shoes will take a while to catch on with the mass market consumer.
Fashion innovators (like celebrities and bloggers) continue to lead the way with the trend. I believe trend followers will soon try out these shoes in small doses (a clear strap here, a Lucite heel there, etc.) It seems that the majority of comments on clear shoes are negative right now, but this is likely to change as the better and moderate markets pick up the trend.
I predict that summer's warmer temperatures will prompt a wider acceptance of the trend.

What About Fall 2012?
While clear shoes were quite prevalent in designers' Spring 2012 collections, only a handful of designers perpetuated the trend into fall. In the Yves Saint Laurent and Rupert Sanderson Fall 2012 collections, PVC elements were paired with dark, eye-catching materials and textures perfect for fall. For Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld combined a lucite heel with leather and the signature Chanel tweed in rich, fall colors.
